Isolation and Characterization of Various Fungal Strains from Textile Effluent for Their Use in Bioremediation
نویسندگان
چکیده
Bioremediation is an inexpensive mean to remove hazardous metal ions from the contaminated effluent. Effluent from the local textile industry was characterized for the incidence of fungal strains and its physiochemical properties were investigated. Sampling was done spanning a distance of five km from the effluent’s discharge point. Effluent was analyzed and highest colony forming units per mL were found at the end point (5x10). Penicillium, Rhizopus and Candida were the three main fungal genera found in such alkaline pH where as Drechslera sp., and Rhodotorula sp., were in low number. Effluent was also analyzed for Mn, Mg, Zn, Fe, Cu, Cd, Ni and Cr using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. Concentration of all these metal ions in the effluent were above the recommended N.E.Q.S. There was increase in TSS, TDS, BOD,COD,EC, colour and metal ions concentration.

Isolation and characterization of diesel-degrading Pseudomonas strains from diesel-contaminated soils in Iran (Fars province)
In this study, among the 21 diesel-degrading bacteria that were isolated from an oil-polluted area in Fars (Iran), 6 bacterial strains were tested for their capability to metabolize and grow on diesel oil by degrading its hydrocarbons content. The biochemical characteristics and 16S rRNA sequence analysis of diesel-degrading bacteria showed that these strains were related to the genus Pseudomon...

Current study has evaluated the decolorization of textile dye Red 3BN by Peniciliium chrysogenum, Cladosporium sp. and Aspergillus niger, isolated from textile industry effluent at Bangalore. The organisms were maintained in the laboratory in Potato Dextrose Agar medium. Production of the enzyme laccase by all the 3 strains of fungi has been confirmed through guaiacol bioassay followed by decol...
متن کاملCharacterization and Phylogenetic Analysis of Magnaporthe spp. strains on Various Hosts in Iran
Background: Populations of Magnaporthe, the causal agent of rice blast disease, are pathotypically and genetically diverse and therefore their interaction with different rice cultivars and also antagonistic microorganisms are very complicated. Objectives: The objectives of the present study were to characterize phylogenetic relationships of 114 native Magnaporthe strains, isolated from rice a...
متن کاملReview on Biosorption of Dyes by Fungi
Microorganisms dead or alive are successfully exploited for bioremediation of xenobiotics by biosorption. Textile effluents are among the most difficult-to-treat wastewaters, due to their considerable amount of recalcitrant and toxic substances. Fungal biosorption is viewed as a valuable additional treatment for removing pollutants from textile wastewaters. The overall economics of the biosorpt...
